Hi, my name is Wendy Kuslan and I am a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I established Eden Acupuncture with the view to creating a wellness clinic that incorporates a collection of  healing modalities. I have worked within the Complimentary health industry for over a decade. I am fortunate to have had a wonderful start at an established and very busy Acupuncture clinic in Strathpine while I studied for my Bachelor of Health Science in Brisbane.

Since graduation I've worked as a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Strathpine with well known Acupuncturists and also at Upper Mount Gravatt with a team of physiotherapists.

I have been interested in the healing arts and natural medicine since and early age.

Once I became a mother and dealing with my childrens health and my own health issues,  I realised there was a massive gap in what some health proffessionals consider the definition of 'wellness'. Illness is often considered a normal part of life - where only the end result of illness and disease is treated (or somtimes only managed) and the cause is often overlooked.

Traditional Chinese Medicine appealed to me because it is very observant of  the patients presenting signs and symptoms (some very subtle, but each one leading back to the cause of the presenting health imbalance). A thorough history of symptoms is taken, which create a pattern in TCM. This then leads to an effective diagnosis and treatment plan.

There are many areas of health that interest me and besides Acupuncture and Chinese medicine, over the years I have also studied a variety of massage therapies. I began with Swedish massage, then a Brandon Raynor Remedial massage therapy course, deep tissue massage and An Mo Tui Na (TCM massage). I have a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) which is 4 years full time study in Australia and I completed my study and training at Guangxi TCM University in Nanning PR China (which was very interesting)! I have also attained a diploma In Oriental Remedial Therapies and Diploma in Foot Care.

What I admire most about Traditional Chinese Medicine - it is a modality that has been used on millions of people, continuously for thousands of years. Treatments (including acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, moxabustion, Chinese exercise therapy and food as medicine) and herbal formulas that have been tried, tested and documented over centuries! In a population of people that valued good health and vitality as essential to their longevity and prosperity.

Acupuncture Consultations
An acupuncture consultation in our clinic includes the taking of a detailed health history (to look at the 'big picture' of your health), an assessment of the signs and symptoms presented, which then leads to the diagnosis and a treatment plan. Depending on nature of the clients problem, this may involve a massage (which helps free up tension, move lymphatic blockages, move stuck emotional or physical Qi which eases physical pain and helps relieve emotional tension), then acupuncture and dietary or lifestyle advice as required. Cupping, gua sha or moxa may be utilised and each of these will be explained. Herbs may be recomended depending on the nature of the consultation.
